AMADOR CITY, Amador County — An official 2026 public notice outlined a possible restriction on large trucks using Amador City’s historic Main Street, citing pedestrian safety, road maintenance and the character of the downtown district.
The city’s Government Overview page reproduces a June 16, 2026 notice for proposed Ordinance 190, which would amend the municipal vehicle and traffic code. The notice describes a restriction on trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating exceeding 10,000 pounds, or five tons, on Main Street.
What happened with the comment period?
The city invited written comments through July 13 and advertised a July 14 hearing. Those dates have passed. The online notice does not, by itself, establish the final adopted wording or enforcement status of the ordinance as of November. Drivers and residents should consult the current municipal code and official council minutes before treating a proposed restriction as a final rule.
Why the distinction matters
Truck access can affect delivery businesses, emergency services, residents and road wear. A legal weight limit may contain exceptions and require signs or other implementation procedures. An accurate local news report must separate the city’s stated intent from the legally effective text.
The city lists the clerk at 209-267-0682 and city.clerk@amador-city.com for official questions.
